  If you're planning on taking your family out by plane for the Labor Day weekend holiday, you might be interested in this: Out  of 20,000 travelers surveyed by AirfareWatchdog.com, 85 percent said they would support the creation of a section just for babies and small children on planes. And fully 100 percent of those polled said they'd pay $20 extra each way to be on a longer flight (2 hours plus) with no kids under 13, at all. I'll make a confession here: I have not flown since my kids were born. The very thought of it makes me want to lay down and have a glass of wine. Read More... • Kiss It, Southwest. We’re Flying on Delta

  We won’t be making our annual coast-to-coast flight with Southwest this year. We compared all the prices and with so little difference among many of the airlines, we decided to treat ourselves to the luxury of reserved seats on Delta. Who cares about pre-boarding with kids, when Aisle 22, seats A through D, will display our names etched in gold. But it's not either-or. • Babble Talk: Toddler Turbulence

  This week Hana Schank took on a Breeder vs. Non hot topic. When childless people see a baby coming down the aisle, there is zero effort made to hide their fear/disappointment/rage about being seated next to that child. Parents, meanwhile, are struggling to pack the perfect diaper bag, ideally one that will keep them from being strip searched by the TSA while possessing everything you will need to keep your child happy, healthy and (relatively) quiet for the two-hour delay before the cross-country flight and 45 minutes of circling your destination due to heavy air traffic. • Drunken Mommy Chronicles: The Airplane Edition

  I guess there's new meaning now to the phrase "The Mile-High Club." Except this club should actually be called the "Mommy Gets Drunk and Beats Her Kids on an Airplane" club. Bet there's not a whole lot of members of that club. The charter member of this dubious new club is Californian Tamera Freeman, who appeared with her two children aboard a Frontier Airlines San Francisco-Denver flight. Apparently Tamera hung out awhile in the airport bar in San Francisco, or maybe just drank on the plane, because she reportedly threw a drink at the foot of a flight attendant and then pointed her finger, and also yelled at and hit her children during the flight. When the plane got to Denver the kids were handed over to a relative, and Tamera faces potential felony charges (interfering with a flight crew is apparently worse than beating one's children). I'm still wondering why more wasn't done about the hitting. Hello? Other passenger-people on the flight? • Your Kid's Tantrum Might Get You Kicked Off the Plane

  Yep, it's every road warrior's wet dream -- that screaming kid in seat 16E, along with his obviously negligent, irresponsible, and ineffective parents, is getting what he deserves and is being kicked off the plane.  Ahh, silence.  Let me adjust my headphones and my stupid little inflatable neck pillow.  There.  Pass me a pack of peanuts, will you? It's good to know that despite 9/11 and bloated travel-industry downsizing and the spiraling cost of jet fuel, some airlines are doing well. AirTran must not need the dollars anymore from family travel, otherwise they would never have insisted that 3-year-old Elly Kulesza and her parents, Julie and Gerald, be asked to de-plane from their flight home on January 14 when Elly would just not stop crying.  When she didn't, airline employees "demanded" that her parents calm her down, and when that didn't work, they banned the entire family from flying for 24 hours!
