Somehow, I’m not all that
distressed about lead in toys. I mean, the probable danger is a nice excuse
for chipping away at the mountain of junk in various corners of the house. I
get to be ruthless with a clear conscience.
The health scare recalls
that have me totally put out are the ones involving bagged spinach and lettuce.
How to live without pre-washed leafy greens!
After that big recall of
bagged baby spinach last year, we swore off the stuff. For a few months. But
the bags are so easy, and baby spinach just sort of melts into everything, and
even though my kids manage to pick it out, I have to believe some of it
actually gets ingested. So I put my head in the sand and put bags of it in the
cart.
