The
very much anticipated trailer for the Wild Things Are – the movie, has
finally hit the web. The Spike Jonze film based on the classic book by
Maurice Sendak with a screenplay by Jonze and Dave Eggers also finally has a real release date. After being delayed for over a year, the big day is now October 16th, 2009.
The trailer’s combination of natural lighting, moody color pallet, and
indie rock styling’s of The Arcade Fire soundtrack made me immediately
rush and hug my kid after watching it. It embraces the spirit of the
book except with a wee more subtle angst, aura of loneliness and live
action. From this short trailer I concluded that the film can be
described two words …tear jerker.
