• Today's Parents Minding Their (Kids') Manners More Than Ever

  From the BabyCenter folks (you know, the ones who send you emails every week or so with updates on how your child should be developing) comes a new survey about today's parents and their attitudes toward manners. Apparently, manners are back (though in some houses, naturally, they never really left). The BabyCenter poll released this week shows today's parents focusing on teaching their kids proper behavior for a variety of reasons; the top three are "to gives kids a moral compass" (64%), as a reaction against seeing "badly behaved kids" (58%), and to give kids a leg up in a "competitive" world (43%). You're already kind of annoyed by the guy because he's talking with the volume of a jackhammer in a library. But it gets worse. • Totally Perfect for Storytime

  No matter what life lesson you hope to impart to your child, there's probably a book out there that'll help teach it. The importance of telling the truth, the joys of using the big-kid potty, how to deal with teasing... But maybe there's been a void. That's why I was very pleased when this made the rounds about a month ago. Because of course if I want my child to learn how to pimp, the Berenstain Bears are the perfect teachers.
