Ooh, aren't these necklaces pretty? A lot of the recalled jewelry looks pretty junky to me and also looks like something I'd never want my daughter to wear, but these look okay. Seed beads and a butterfly? Cute, huh? Too bad the clasp contains a lot of lead.
My daughter's seven and still puts things in her mouth. Some kids are just more oral than others, you know? And she swallowed a dime once, so, for me, the idea of my kid swallowing this lead-filled little gem really isn't that big a stretch. And I don't want her doing that, which is why I'm glad they've been recalled, about 19,000 of them. Made in China, naturally.
The necklaces were sold in souvenir and gift shops for about $2 from January 2006 through May 2007. You know the drill: if you own one, discontinue use and take it back to where you got it, or contact the importer for more details.
