Founders of the Blue Man group are starting a preschool.
Remember Blue Man? Lots of bald blue people, lots of drums, very
paint-y. They did some Intel commercials. Anyhow, the school, called
the Blue Man Creativity Center until state accreditation goes through,
plans to incorporate Reggio Emilia curriculum (lots of creativity,
child-directed learning; my kid's school was that) to empower the
kiddies. And judging from the description of some of the features, it's
gonna be a trip. One of the Blues says, "If your goal is to get your
kid into an Ivy League school, this is
definitely the wrong place to be... But we hope the kids
will be so well educated that they get into any place they want." I
tell you what: Harvard or not, at least they'll feel right at home at
Burning Man.
