Nickelodeon has announced the
nominees for the 2009 Kids' Choice Awards.

My kids are still pretty young--all
under 5--so I may be woefully out of touch, but some of these nominees don't
seem that kid-friendly to me. Pussycat Dolls? Don't they dance on stripper
poles? Or am I thinking of someone else? And America's Next Top Model? Does it
give our aspiring teen models valuable advice or does it set them up with
unreasonable expectations of beauty?
Other shows I can't believe our
kids are watching: My Name is Earl (for which Jason Lee received an acting
nom), Deal or No Deal (aren't our kids smarter than this?), and Ugly Betty
(star America Ferrera is nominated). I'm not passing judgment on these shows
(I've never actually seen them), but they seem awfully grown-up. (Like I said,
I'm woefully out of touch.)
Does this mean my kids won't be
satisfied with the loony antics of Zoboomafoo and the Kratt brothers forever?
Or that they'll tire of Sid the Science Kid before long?
The awards, now in their 22nd year,
will be broadcast live on March 28 at 8pm and hosted by Dwayne Johnson,
formerly known as The Rock. Here's who's nominated in all 18 categories:
