Proving once again that P.T. Barnum was right, fans lined up to get the latest Elvis doo-hickey: Barbie dolls fashioned after The King and his bride, Priscilla Beaulieu.

According to the AP, 150 people waited to get their hands on a boxed set of the…"toys" doesn’t sound right, so let's say "collectibles." Brenda Moore, an Arkansas resident who works at Wal-Mart's corporate headquarters, bid – make sure you're sitting down – $6800 for a pair of Barbie's signed by Priscilla herself. Moore and her husband "believe the money is for a good cause." That cause is Presley Place, the charitable arm of the Elvis empire. Plus, they get these cool…collectibles.

Elvis died on August 16, 1977; this unveiling was part of a weeklong series of events at Graceland to commemorate the day he died while simultaneously separating Elvis fans from their money.

As if thong-wearing Bratz weren't already securing the kiddie toy sexual revolution, toymakers continue to try and wrest sexay from remodels of iconic toys from the 70s and 80s. Pictured right is the original Holly Hobbie. See her disturbing modern makeover after the jump.

She is only one of the Top 5 Worst Sweet-to-Sexy Toy Makeovers:

1. Strawberry Shortcake - No longer the dumpling gumdrop five or six-year-old, she is now a tween, likes to sit sexy sidesaddle, and wears her hair to her waist. Hard to imagine her playing soccer or doing anything but sitting passively and looking pretty.

2. Holly Hobbie - Like her friend Strawberry, Holly is now a tween with attitude (and long hair). Check her out. It's a sad day when we forsake prioneer girls like Laura Ingalls for Hannah Montana lookalikes.

3. Barbie - Hard to imagine that Barbie would some day seem tame compared to her slutty doll counterparts. Nevertheless, she's doing her best to keep up with the times.

4. My Little Pony - These sweet little purple and pink-haired quadropeds have a newer modern relative, the Strutz. The new horsies have implied cleavage, high heels and wear tons of makeup.

5. Trollz - Remember those crazy plastic statues with the weird furry hair? Take a look at their new incarnation.

If trolls can look like Bratz and Holly Hobbie has forsworn her pioneer girl roots, then surely the kiddie toy sexual revolution is complete.

The oversexualization of young children is a serious problem and one that keeps me awake nights (I have three girls). I've chosen not to fill our house with Barbie or Bratz or Britney to date. But I distinctly recall drooling over the perfected beauty of Barbie's naked breasts. And then I think perhaps I'm making too much of these wads of plastic. On the other hand, Barbie worship plays an integral part of our collective memory so what's the big deal?

Dollies with perky breasts and nonexistent genitalia and high heel feet have been a source of sexual exploration for as long as I can remember. I also enjoyed undressing Barbie, or leaving her top off on purpose, so I could gaze lovingly at her orbs...

As the mother of three girls I intend to avoid dressing them in "Sex Kitten" t-shirts until they're 30, and safeguard their innocence as long as possible -- removing beauty magazines, television, and all contact with weight obsessed adult women. For now, that also means refraining from giving them Bratz or Barbie or any other slutty-vampy-type doll. But will they miss out on all the healthy (in my view) Barbie lust as a result?
