Because nothing about a bunch of kids chanting “Assassinate Obama” can make you feel good. Even if you’re a McCain supporter, we’re still talking children supporting murder.

In fact, the parents who brought this case to an Idaho TV station are McCain supporters. But like most parents in America, they’d rather not hear their kids spewing hate and homicidal recommendations on the school bus.

The kids from a Rexburg, Idaho school were actually shouting “Assassinate Obama and Kate,” throwing in the name of one of the bus passengers. Matthew Whoolery’s kids, second- and third-graders who were riding the elementary bus, came home and asked their dad what “assassinate” meant.

First he called the school. Then he called the media. He said he’d like more parents to realize they need to be careful of what they’re saying in front of their kids. Even a flip comment can be picked up by little pitchers and become an anthem for the pint-sized masses.

I’d like to think that this was a flip comment taken out of context by a child. I’d like to think that people in this country who are angry over the results of an election don’t automatically begin thinking about assassination as a means to salve their frustrations. The beauty of democracy is our ability to all have our say. So your candidate lost. You can fight a little harder in four years, and maybe you’ll succeed.

But killing the candidate? That’s hate. That’s extremism. That’s un-American. Is that really what you want to pass on to the future of our country?

Image/Source: 2News.TV

Related Posts:

From 52 to 48 With Love: When Families are Split Down Political Lines

Woman in Labor Holds Off Delivery Until After Voting for Obama

How to Keep Your Kid From Pissing off The McCain Supporters

A Taste of Sasha and Malia's White House Rules: But Can They Paint it Pink?

Mississippi Students, Postal Worker, Punished For Wearing Obama Shirts

Father's Depression Leads to Maggots, Lost Custody

I have so been there. Well, not exactly there, but drifting in the general direction. That weird feeling of being so overwhelmed with the easiest tasks: pick up fallen scrap of paper, carry to trash can, drop in; or sippy cup of milk in the sink, open lid, set in upper dishwasher rack. Nope, can't do it. Sometimes, it all just feels like too much and I just walk away for awhile. Anyone else?

This guy in Australia had whatever it is in the extreme and his daughter got taken away. Granted, there were maggots in the food and his daughter slept on a urine soaked mattress, and the dog was underfed and had fleas. Around here, we’ve all got clean sheets and fresh fruit, so no need to call CPS. I’m just saying, that melancholy can sure get you.

The 27-year-old father, an unemployed student, had been profoundly depressed for five years (which also happens to be how hold is daughter is), his parents told the judge as they stood by him in court. He did some jail time and, now released, gets to see his daughter on supervised visits. I’m just going to assume he’s getting psychological help and medication.

Indeed, moms aren't the only ones who get the blues.

More German Homeschooled Children Threatened with Removal from their Families

Remember the case of the 15-year old German girl taken from her parents because they homeschooled her? Human rights activist concerns that this could open the door to other homeschooled children being removed from their families, is proving true.

A court in Saxony (the same court that removed the 15-year old) has ordered 5 children into state custody. Though the children have not yet been taken from their parents, they could be removed any day. The ruling realizes the fear of many concerned groups who believe that in its efforts to insure public education remains free of ideology and extremism, the government has missed the mark and vastly overstepped its rights.

The notion that a government, or any person, can remove children from parents if the parents aren't following stated guidelines and rules is so frightening. I'm usually an avid defender of government programs and public education. But these occurrences leave me absolutely speechless.
