Let me just issue a disclaimer here. I'm not bitter that I've never been behind the wheel of a Porsche. I am a country girl who still can't drive a stick. So there.

OK, so I'm a teensy weensy bit jealous of nine-year-old Brooklyn Beckham. Soccer playing hottie David Beckham and Posh Spice wife Victoria have purchased their oldest child his own Porsche. Don't worry, it's a miniature version of the real thing.

And it comes with a miniature pricetag - just $72,610.

Yup, it's an absolute bargain when you consider the economy, and the fact that this baby is handmade, with a honest-to-pollution-ess diesel engine. Not that they'd worry anyway - docs checking Becks out to make sure he's good for his loan from the Los Angeles Galaxy to Italy's AC Milan promise he is still in good enough shape to be bending the ball come World Cup 2014.

I am a big Beckham fan; made sure I made it to his first showing in the Meadowlands when he came here with the Galaxy. Still, this one has me betwixt and between. He's nine (about to be ten in March), and he's been given a diesel powered one-seater worth more than what I have left on my mortgage.

Throw the economics out of it, and I still think I'd be wary of giving a nine-year-old something with this kind of power (how cute he looks inside of it, aside). A diesel engine is not exactly your Power Wheels battery.

Am I just overreacting? Peevish because I don't have a Porsche?

Lorraine Fleming, whose son Reece died of cancer recently, is holding on to the comfort that Reece was granted his last wish before he died: to marry his school sweetheart.

After 8-year-old Reece, who had battled cancer for half of his life, was told that he had only a few weeks to live, he popped the big question to Elleanor Pursglove, his close friend of many years. She accepted, and on the appointed day, Elleanor arrived at Reece’s house in a wedding dress. Her mother acted as vicar as the school friends exchanged rings and vows. Reece, dressed in his favorite shirt, also presented Elleanor with a red rose.

Prior to getting “married,” Reece had told his mother, “I’m not ready to go yet.” But the night of the wedding, he seemed truly at peace. “Mum, I can go now,” he told Lorraine. He died the next day.

Reece had fulfilled many other life ambitions as well, such as riding in a Ferrari and a Porsche, having a pirate party, and spending a day at a fire station.
