You just couldn't wait to get back to your things and have some friends and family over to show off your new bundle of joy.

One happy couple was just beginning to relax into an afternoon of cooing and relaxation when a diaper change, well, changed everything.

"We were totally paralyzed," said the mom, a 35-year-old.

Her daughter had a penis.

The Romanian couple had been handed the wrong baby on the way out of the hospital. Their frantic phone calls were met with hang-ups. The hospital staff thought they were pranks.

All got resolved after the couple rushed back to the maternity ward to retrieve the child -- the girl child -- the couple actually conceived and the mom gave birth to.

(Still, might we recommend a DNA test? Sounds like that hospital is just handing out kids, first come, first served.)

Three-Year-Old Romanian Girl Youngest Singer, and She's Cute As All Get Out

I hope they have access to Babble in Romania. With the economy the way it is, I'm thinking a move to South Central Europe is in order. At least there my 3-year-old could be making some big bucks to keep Mommy and Daddy in the lifestyle to which we've become accustomed (and yes, by lifestyle I mean the Noggin-watching, orange juice-drinking, early morning-rising life of parenting).

Turns out the youngest person to EVER have a number one hit, a record contract and an MTV contract is Romanian born Cleopatra Stratan. The cute-as-a-button daughter of Romanian star Pavel Stratan was 3 when she performed for two hours in front of a live audience, 3 when Ghita hit number one.

The video is adorable. . . and a little disturbing. Have you ever seen a 3-year-old sit that still? Introduce me, will you?

That was three years ago, which puts Cleopatra past her prime of course. Think Britney, not Miley. There's even a section of her Wikipedia page that refers to her early life - I guess that would be pre-potty training? But with her getting older every day, I'm thinking my 3-year-old can move right in there. We've already got the advantage - I can't understand a word of Ghita, and the Romanians won't be able to understand a word my daughter says. So how will they know if she's been practicing or just watching Noggin?

has ruled that a young rape and incest victim may be allowed to have an
abortion. The shocking news is that this was a very controversial ruling.

"I want to go to school and to play. If I can't do
this my life will be a nightmare,'" the 11-year-old wrote in a letter to
the government committee deciding her fate. Already, the girl had been shunned
by her former friends because of her pregnancy.

Romanian law prohibits abortions after 14 weeks, unless the
mother’s life is in jeopardy, and the preteen girl was 21 weeks pregnant. An
earlier abortion was not possible since no one, presumably not even the girl
herself, knew she was pregnant. Her parents took her to a doctor on June 2
because she seemed sick. There, she told doctors that she was raped by her
19-year-old uncle, whose current whereabouts are unknown.

The mainly orthodox country is divided over the ruling.
Pro-life groups have rallied for the pregnant child to give birth, offering
to care for the baby after it is born. But child rights organizations say the
young victim should not be made to undergo further hardship. Even the Orthodox
Church aired on the side of tolerance, arguing that although abortion is a
crime, this is an extraordinary situation that can only be decided by the girl
and her family.

Photo: Romanian girls on a holiday (pbase.com)

She gave birth to her daughter Eliza when she was 66 years old.

Her title was usurped by Spanish mom Carmela Bousada, who gave birth to twins just short of her 67th birthday.

But enough about records, how's life for the elderly mother of a three-year-old?

Lonely, according to the Daily Mail, although the mother-daughter pair seem to be plenty happy. They go shopping, Eliza goes to preschool, Mom still teaches classes at the university. Iliescu says she has never suffered any prejudice for being such an old mom. She says her country, Romania, admires mothers above all else.

Of course there is the matter of Eliza being orphaned at such a young age, were her mother to die. Iliescu had a falling out with her family over some inherited property, so there's no one in her bloodline to take the little girl in. However, the girl's godfather, mom's doctor, plays a role in the girl's life. Also, she would count on the state's child protective services to help out.

But none of this is expected, she says. Her own mother lived for so long, Eliza would be at least 20 years old if Iliescu were to age similarly.

Of course, she has a bit of advice already for her daughter. From the Daily Mail:

"I would advise my daughter to have a child before she is 30," she said.

Ahhh, a mother's wisdom.

Photo: Daily Mail
