I'm leaving this comment solely so that the only comment on the article is not the one written by Bekka. I reread the entire article again and found nothing that would constitute a "low blow." In fact Brett makes a point to state that they both were only "legally" dudes, implying that the reality was different. Plus, not knowing all of the issues surrounding the transgender community and marriage is emphatically NOT the same thing as transphobia. Just saying.

Really, Brett? Strollerderby? WAY disappointing, I usually love you both. This person was most emphatically NOT a dude, but a transgender individual. This is a legitimate news story specifically BECAUSE all the debate around gay marriage leaves transgender individuals and their partners in complete invisibility. I'm extremely irritated at this treatment, especially because Strollerderby has always at least paid lip service to diversity and gender equality, and silly me assumed transphobia wouldn't fit here. Low blow, guys.
