km: I understand where you are coming from. That being said, you don't see/hear NEARLY as many jokes directed at other medical illnesses as you do infertility. And for what its worth, I think my skin is thick enough. I didn't collapse to the floor crying over this "joke". I simply stated that it stung. I found it a bit distasteful.

It's a joke. Obviously, if you are the butt of the joke, it will sting. However, if you're going to be a parent, you're going to need a thicker skin, so suck it up.

I realize this is supposed to be funny, but I have to admit I found the infertility joke kind of stung. I had to go through infertility treatment (beginning at age 29)and since my insurance wouldnt pay for a cent I can understand why drug stores advertise helping you figure out how to have some of the (very very expensive) meds covered. Since some of the best infertility clinics are located in NYC there is a large target audience (many people travel to NYC from around the country and around the world specifically for treatment. Trying to figure out how to pay for a medical procedure is hardly on par with purchasing wooden toys.

Yep, I've noticed that many of the new Strollerderby bloggers are all about the mean. Using the word "retarded" or "retard", the "Angie and Brad Can't Get it Done" title....

There are people who were doing the fertility treatment thing back in the day, but technology has advanced and nowadays too, more women are seeking treatment earlier. It is also more acceptable to do so. Back in the day, you couldn't have children either you didn't have children, or you adopted. Adoption has become harder and fertility treatments have advanced....soooooo....

I've met plenty of mid 20 somethings who have sought help in getting pregnant.
