I'm from Bristol in England, which in my opinion is the skankiest city I've ever been to. Every time I hear Bristol Palin's name I can't help but laugh and think "ugh why would anyone name their child that?!"

I'm from Bristol, England, and everytime I hear the name of Bristol Palin I can't help but laugh, it just reminds me of the skankiest city in the world.

Well, I think the commentary was mean; but very funny. I was thinking the same thing.

Every time I think of Bristol, I think of the pill she should have been taking made by, you guessed it...Bristol-Myers Squibb!

I don't understand why so many folks can't do the math.

Am I missing something, or...wasn't "Willow" born (and named) *prior* to the Buffy The Vampire Slayer show going on the air?

Which pretty much puts the kibosh on "Piper," too. I mean, if you're dealing with a mom who takes Piper Cherokee Archers and similar aircraft all 'round Alaska all the time, the only way you can say "Piper" is named after a witch (some character I've never heard about, BTW, but I'll take everyone's word for it) is if "Willow" is also...and apparently she isn't.

If I'm mistaken, feel free to correct. But it looks to me like people are speaking way too quickly.

I personally am a big fan of "different" names, growing up in a family of caitlins, joey's, Julie's, Jen's, and Margarets. (plus more, i have a very large family) I am all about having a unique name. I would choose the name Maverick for our first son if my husband would let me. (anyone a top gun fan? lol) But I really like Track, Loooove Trig, and Willow and Piper are ok. Bristol would be wierd... but only because I live in Bristol, CT. Maybe for a middle name or something? But my kids would have very odd names if i got to choose all on my own.

Anyone giving a child such unusual names is leaving them open to mockery and teasing their whole lives. That's why the Bible says that a good name is so important.

I interpreted Track to be an interesting name.Since mother Palin is a lifetime NRA member, perhaps she was thinking of hunting and Track will track wolves? Or maybe he was conceived on the track field?

I immediately thought of Harvey's Bristol Cream and thought maybe Bristol was conceived after drinking a little sherry.

Willow is traditionally a pagan name, but maybe they conceived her under a willow tree.

Piper may have been conceived in a Piper plane, or they were high in one when they named her.

Trig perhaps isn't a reference to trigonometry, but perhaps he was named after that wonderful Christian Cowboy's horse Trigger! Or it might have been the little trig of a gun.

I would like to know what this woman was thinking when she named her kids. I know a fellow named Sand Wedge Martin, and he goes by Wedge. His dad was hoping he'd become a pro golfer, well he became an engineer and he has taken a life-time of ribbing which did toughen him up. Maybe Palin wanted to toughen up them kids.

The first child Track was named for an athletic sport.

The second child Bristol was named for a City.

The third child Willow was named for a tree.

The fourth child Piper was named for an airplane.

The fifth child got three names, Trig Paxton Van Palin.

Se was named after a high school math class, a motel town just down the road and a rock band Van Halen. I'll bet she can't name a single van Halen song.

leahsmom--you may want to check your facts. I got all excited that she named her daughter after Willow from Buffy (never watched charmed, so don't care about the Piper), but a quick Google search quickly refuted that with compelling evidence.

Meaby, I am so with you on the "false" pregnancy and soon a miscarraige will occur. I think she's still holding some of the weight from the first pregnancy that resulted in Trig 4 months ago!

I think it's the combination of Trig Paxton Van Palin that gets the goofy name award. Especially because "Van Palin" rhymes with "Van Halen".

I don't care what people name their kids - but isn't she a religious fundie? Aren't they mad that she (self-confessedly) named her daughters after Willow (Jewish lesbian witch) and Piper (non Jewish non lesbian, still witch)?

I mean, I believe the Dems have, of the two, policies more in line with Pagans, Jews, and lesbians than the conservatives - and I'd think the religious nuts might wig out about this, no?

i still think its her grandson. i think this new "pregnancy" is fake and any minute they'll talk about her having a "miscarriage".

and the names are weird. piper and willow (i actually like both names) are kinda weird too.

It seems so petty, mean, and stupid to make fun of those kids' names. I am 100% for Obama and would be very upset to see McCain and Palin win. I just don't see the point of ridiculous posts like this. It's not relevant or interesting. It's just trash.
