Apparently Palin, while Mayor of Wasilla, tried to remove the City Librarian who refused to remove certain books from the city library. A commenter was curious to know which books were on the chopping block, and here is the reply:

"We know exactly which books....Grapes of Wrath, Huck Finn, Dr Suess, and science books.

But the issue isn't which books she was banning ONLY THAT she was wanting to ban them."

I suppose it does work that way in a lot of larger families - I don't know from experience as I come from a two-kid house, and I have a one-kid house, myself - though some folks I knew growing up had big families (over 3) and said that this was how it worked. I always wondered how that worked for larger families, in terms of how people felt about it - as a spoiled big sis, I often was grumpy if I had to watch my brother for long periods of time, and I don't know if I would have been a pleasant kid to be around if I had to do it daily while mom was at work - but I know I'm speaking from a position of economic privilege (I didn't have to watch my brother). I'm curious what the older kids' attitude is - especially with a special needs child - and how that works for family dynamics.

I guess Palin doesn't care about helping teen mothers who don't have rich families to take care of them.

But next on the list is what she's doing to her daughter. At 44, Palin is young. Why accept the nomination now when your daughter's teenage pregnancy has to play out on a national stage? And yes, I would say the same thing if a male candidate put his daughter in this position.

Wade, has absolutely no foreign policy experience when we are involved in two wars, has a degree in journalism not something very useful for VP, belongs to two goups that want her home state to sucede from the USA, fires people for personal reasons and seems to be much busier with her job than watching her kids. Her husband seems too busy to watch their either. When you have kids someone has to raise them. Gettin drunk and getting pregnant if you are a teen pretty much says mom was out of town that weekend and you were left on your own. This woman or her husband needs to raise their children first and concentrate on their jobs second. Family values ladies and gentlemen.

However, if she wants to sacrifice quality time with her baby for the sake of her career, it's her (and Trig's) problem, not the public.

I'm a working mom and I'm all for women in executive positions, but in this case I think it's poorly timed.
