The kid was covered in bruises? After reading that, I see no reason to feel sorry for the parents at all. I really don't think they should get to have that child back. It's a terribly sad story.

Sound like junkies to me who used all their money to buy drugs. Crime is not the alternative to being homeless. Wha tkind of mindset has this generation developed? Not that long ago such a family, not on drugs, would have applied for public assistance while one or both of them worked jobs, taking turns watching the baby,trying to get back ontheir feet. What did people do during the Great Depression? Rob thier neighbors? No! They pooled their resources, took any job they could find, traveled to find work, joined the military, moved in with family or friends, asked the church for help.
