Lots of children in this country are worse off than Governor Palin's children. Travelling around the country attending hundreds of adult campaign events with their parents may not the best way for children to spend their time. And who knows, maybe these children are getting the best of tutoring along the way. But even if they're not, there are worse things in life, agreed?

Also, high school attendance is not required by law past a certain age, so I don't think the Palins are breaking any laws by allowing their 17 year old daughter to drop out.

As for the Palin family's seemingly lesser emphasis on secondary and higher education, that's their personal choice. Do them the courtesy of taking this kind of discussion off the public message boards.

Personally, after getting to know the public side of Governor Palin over the past couple of months, I've realized that her personal convictions and views on education and other topics are quite different than mine.

And I won't be voting for Governor Sarah Palin because I don't she is qualified for the job of Vice President.

But I think her family is her personal business, not mine or anyone else's.

As a retired school teacher it is really bothering me that these kids are being dragged around the country and put on stage so much. Even if there is a tutor with them, they are not getting the education they need-- especially the baby. According to what I have been told, a baby with Down Syndrone should be getting intense theraphy daily -- I wonder if this is happening on the campaign trail?????

I was curious about this... Sometimes we take our grade school age son, out of school for a week vacation. Some places are cheaper to visit... in the Winter / Fall months (not that we are able to afford one this year!) But, I know that every day my son misses school is a challege. There are always, unexpected illnesses, drs. appts. etc... I can't imagine that missing this much school wouldn't have an affect on her children. They are adorable kids! Hopefully they have a tutor! Child actors, and celebrity children seem to get by... There must be some sort of standards set in place for children not attending school...

Yes, you have cute kids. I feel sorry for them. They need to be in school. The baby should be with other babies like him as well. I can't ubderstand why we have so many well educated people and how people like John and Sarah be a choice for us to make. They don't have any education to oversee this country. That is why we are in so bad sharp. We got a bunch of want to be's in the White House. We should have people that have ph degress and MA degress's. I really would like to have people smarter than I am. SAD. Sorry for all of us. Let just pray and trust in God. Pray for me and I always pray fo you.

Almost every time I see Sarah Palin on the TV, she has her children w/her in tow and I have asked for sometime now, "Why aren't her children in school?" Are the tax payers footing the bill for private tutors as we have done for her chilren's air fare and clothing, etc.? I also find that her not wanting to have sex education in Alaska's schools has really shown to have helped her pregnant 17 yr old daughter! This is really a great example to other teens in our great nation. How in the world as a parent, a good Mom, not put her family first instead of her political agenda. How can she drag that poor infant child of hers all over the country? Lets see now, she has gotten $2300 refunds back to every resident of Alaska which equals $2300 x 7 people in her family; Her tax return indicate she make over $250K a year, and yet she considers herself just to be the average MIDDLE INCOME American Hockey Mom. Gee, I must be at poverty level if $250K is middle income! She and her husband belong to an Anti-American political organization in Alaska which I have seen her on TV praise and encourage this group; I have seen a Minister administer her w/ Blessings involving witch craft issues; She came into office as Mayor w/ a debt free budget and left out w/ the town in debt w/ millions of dollars all due to her building an ice rink for a friend who died; Her reform methods include stepping all over govt employees and replacing them w/ her school friends everytime she takes a different govt office and thinks nothing of allowing her husband full use of her office and her power as Governor to deal w/ personal issues. Also I have never heard of any high ranking govt. official that brings their children to work everyday and at the same time conducts Government Business! What does she do, call for a break to change a diaper or for feeding during an official meeting? Are other state employees allow do bring their children to work too or is this a do as I say, not as I do politician? Lastly, I have worked in a poltical setting all my life and sure couples discuss what goes on at the office in private BUT spouses don't sit in the office w/ the elected official while govt. meetings are being held, both private and public. Todd Palin is NOT a govt employee, I thought he was a stay at home Dad....so who's watching the 5 kids?

McCain you lost my vote when you selected this "TWIT". Sarah Palin, if you are a decent Mother, you need to take your lipstick, go home, care for your children, have some kind of integrity and set good examples for your beautifuld children and stop embarrasing the hard working women of this country w/ your Neman Marcus spending habits!

Alaska has the highest school drop-out rate in the COUNTRY. So the boyfriend, who isn't exactly racing down the aisle, is doing what seems to be an unfortunate norm in Alaska. Palin took 6 yrs to get an undergraduate degree b/c she attended 5 community colleges. Personally, I DO want a president that is really, really smart. Smarter than me, smarter than a lot of us. If you were having heart surgery, who would YOU choose: the Harvard grad or the guy that graduated 894 out of 899.

I just found your site. Read your post- and then read the comments. For the most part-everyone of those who commented lacked all credibility due to the ridiculously childish insults. I thought I would find some intelligent discourse-instead I found what sounded like a bunch of children arguing, "My dad's bigger than your dad" on the playground. People would be more likely to sway someone's opinion if they first found something to gripe about that had some basis in fact and second if they backed it up with something other than silly unfounded mis-information.

Sarah Palin is ridiculous. Her family is very dysfunctional. She made her son out to be a 9-11 hero when in fact he was told to enlist or go to jail. He was caught vandalizing school buses. I thought Todd was watching them, great father he is. The Palins don't value education, Sarah Palin doesn't read obviously and Todd has not gone further with his education that high school. The daughter is out sleeping around and who knows what else is going on? Sarah Palin needs to go back to Alaska, get educated herself, take care of her messed up family and act like a respectable mother. She is trying to fool the American public but we're not buying her ridiculous behavior! The Palins are really the Clampetts!

I was also wondering about this and thinking it was weird... And not that I'm against the advancement of women in general or think that moms should stay home (not at all, I work full-time), but here's what I was thinking... She touts herself as a good family woman and exceptional mom, yet who could juggle such a crazy schedule with 5 kids, including a 6 month-old baby with special needs? Propping your kids to rallies is one thing, actually spending time with them and caring for them is another one...

She dropped out BEFORE she got pregnant with this one. Had so much free time on her hands she got knocked up again. The story is she had an adoption plan but when they found the baby had Downs htey could not find an adoptive couple so Grammy decided to pass it off as hers. So Bristol thinking she wont get pregnant so soon after delivery got knocked up again. Maybe those last two years of highschool would have done her good. But then, it is family tradition to get pregnant before you marry. Track was born 7 months after his parents courthouse nuptials. The stick had two lines!

I would guess that Sarah Palin doesn't value education much anyway, since she is barely educated herself and is rather stupid. Plus, she wouldn't want to risk someone telling her kids that dinosaurs and humans weren't palling around 6000 years ago.

i think it's pretty clear that none of us know what they're doing - but maybe, and this may be a shock... maybe they are home schooling or have a private tutor... pregnancy stuff aside, maybe the kids are being kept out of public school now... maybe the father of the baby will work his way up...maybe they will get GED's... let's not just assume that the only way to educate a child is the public school system.
