One day I'll get around to spackling over it. One day after my daughter's finally old enough for us to remove the "safety" gate

re: Child Safety, Child Schmafety

This is so true! Babyproofing is dangerous and just plain annoying for the big people. But still better than your kid taking a header off the stairs.

I think, though, that the toys kids leave lying around on the floor are way more dangerous. Ever slipped on some blocks in the dark?

I'm tripping over one of our gates (we have 4!) almost on a daily basis. That said, I'd take the fall for my little man any day.

Yeah, and the noise. Dear god, the noise. Especially when one of our cats decides to jump over the gate, but also makes contact with the top of the gate on the way over.

Thank heavens I'm tall for a woman or I wouldn't be able to navigate them at all. Height = increased chances to do oneself in.

I know about stepping over the top of the stairs gate. I had to stop it recently because I ALMOST fell and I'm pregnant.... um ooops. I've gotten good at making the gate close as quietly as possible now.
