The election is over. And it wasn't even close, in terms of electoral votes. Not even close! Americans elected Barack Obama to be the 44th president of the United States. No Bradley Effect, no hanging chads, no baggage. Just a fresh start

re: Morning News: Yes, He Did!

I can't express how happy I am to see such a competent, intelligent and inspirational man take over leadership of your country. I was at Rockefeller center in NYC. The crowd was so incredibly ecstatic!

My son is due in 14 days and it is refreshing feeling knowing that I can look into his eyes and tell him he can live his life with no limitations. He can be anything, he can do anything. Of course I would have told him that before, but when I look into his eyes I can say it with so much conviction and assurance. Growing up in the south, then moving to NYC I did not believe that the rest of the world was so progressive. I was wrong, yes we can.

The look on John McCain's face when the boooing of Obama started was very telling of what went wrong in this campaign. You know he recognized right at that moment a big factor in his loss. I actually liked John McCain back when these idiots hated him and slandered him in the name of electing Bush. He gave a better speech last night than he's given this whole 2 yrs. He was more personable and sincere and warm. It's sad how far some politicians are willing to go to get elected. It's also sad that sometimes their most fervent supporters will be the very people to turn off so many with their bullying, alarmist, slandering tactics.

I felt so validated reassured (of my vote)as I listened to Obama graciously and humbly accept the victory and seriously, sincerely recognize John McCain for the war hero and public servant that he's been. There was no doubt in my mind I made the right choice. I'm proud that my candidate won the way he did - very proud. It was really something to witness history in such a moving way. We'll all always remember it.

I thought it was interesting the juxtaposition between the boos over Obama during McCain's concession speech and the cheers during Obama's speech when he spoke of McCain. McCain was very obviously upset that his supporters were booing, and they kept calling out things that I couldn't quite make out. It was interesting. I was crying my eyes out last night, it was truly an incredible evening.

We cheer John McCain and have at almost every opportunity for his service and his commitment to our country, even when we disagree with his actions. Conservatives boo the name of Obama and use racist words (the "terrorist" thing has racist undertones, itself) because they can't argue the facts against him. It's so GOOD to see that taking the moral high ground can actually succeed. For the first time in my whole life, I have hope that the world our children will grow up in might be better than the one I grew up in.
