I showered daily, that was it, and we were fine. Breastmilk is full of antibodies, and baby saliva tells your breasts which ones to make for your little one, so unless something other than your baby's mouth or milk gets on there, you're fine

Sorry. I know I'm a bit over the top, but I never once cleaned my nipples before feeding my three babies. I took a shower (almost) everyday and figured I was clean enough. Have I lost my mind? Am I the only one?

Besides, would you place your infants bottle in chemical laden water with 100 stangers butts soaking in it? Yuck! Wash your boobs people! It is common sense. My grandmother told me to do it.

P.S. Pools are not sterile. Surgical tools are sterile.

Ellie Karkouti violated Cinira Longuinh's Human Rights as they are legally defined by the Ontario Human Rights Commission, which is a chargeable offense.

Ellie Karkouti stepped in a big steaming pile when she decided to single out a mom who was quietly and discreetly nursing her child amidst a group of her peers. I don't think she's yet spoken to a lawyer, because she keeps talking to the press and doing stupid things like hiring Kevlar clad security guards for the day a large group of nursing mothers came to the pool with their families.

Karkouti keeps saying it's a health and safety issue, which has been debunked in the many pool specific breastfeeding related human rights violations (including one by a colleague of mine). It's a human rights violation, clean, clear and simple.

Ew!

I totally support breastfeeding in public -- yay, Angelina! and so on -- and I do think the owner of the pool is making a silly argument. But I would have gently encouraged this woman to get out of the water, too. I don't like the idea of someone breastfeeding in a public pool any more than I like the idea of someone peeing in the same pool (even though pee is sterile). The pool is just not a place for bodily fluids. And unless that mom and kid are some sort of crazy champion breastfeeding neatnik team, there's a chance that a little milk is going to dribble down into the water. Is there a reason this lady couldn't have just sat poolside in a chair instead, and THEN gone for a swim?
