BTW, everyone is special... we are just different, just as your children are different and special. All children are special, and I didn't need this "label" to "make" myself feel special. If you have ever watched your child cry at night, wishing they were normal and could fit in with the other kids at school, or if you experienced the same, then you know my pain and the pain of all Indigos, the pain of all children who have their psy-abilities already "turned on."

Everyone has psy-abilities, it's just that most people choose to laugh or hate because it's something they don't understand. I'd rather acknowledge my own power, and just be who I am... even in the face of so much ugliness.

well... I am an Indigo... I am what I am. I am an old soul, older than most of you can comprehend... we are real, we are people, we do have a very special mission to help this world. It saddens me to hear you all hating on something you do not even comprehend, which is why you spew the hate... misunderstanding and an unwillingness to understand.

I dare one of you to tell me that I am "horseshit" to my face!

While not all autistic children are Indigo, many Indigos are mislabeled autistic... and giving them all those autism drugs does bad things to our bodies, minds and souls.

I feel very sorry for the children of the commenters, that they must grow up with parents who are so full of anger, and cannot see the possibilities of what is in this world and the ones beyond it.

For what it's worth... I am not "metaphysical kookiness..." I am a human being. And none of your commenters even "got" what being an Indigo is about, by the way... how can you describe and judge what we are if you aren't one yourself? Check out www.starchildglobal.com... that will tell you a lot more.

And I want to thank the person who wrote this blog that she is at least willing to entertain the possibility of our existence.

The traits they are talking about in this article are also the traits for the old fashion Extrovert/Introvert/Aggressive/

Passive stuff we learned in college to teach different learning styles. They have just labeled them with a new name.

My MIL is very into this crap and has saved a book for my daughter (19 months old) all about this stuff. I believe that if you can't see your child (or yourself) as special without help, you need help. It's awlfully condescending as well. "We're crystal/indigo people and you're not" Which is how my MIL uses it, so I'm probably very bias.

One of the guys that works with my husband is into this stuff. He came home talking about it one day...I told him to just drop it. He said, "Well I'd like to do some "research" on it."

I rolled my eyes...fine, research, whatever...

So he did his "research" and about a week later I asked him how that went.

He blushed and said something I didn't quite catch and I said, "Yeah, that's what I thought."

It's a bunch of crap designed so that people who have children with real problems can feel not so set apart. It takes advantage..and even worse, it can be used to prey on adults who were raised in a generation when those disorders weren't recognized or treated. It lures them in , makes them feel "special" and then gets them to join a "group" or something....it's like offering a miracle cure to someone that's been looking for an answer for a long time...

This is my understanding (having been involved in metaphysics for a very long time now):

While it is true that more children are being born now who do possess these qualities, it would be a mistake to attribute that to anything other than the relative "old soul-ness" of these children. However, the label works for parents and other seeking to find a commonality that explains the seeming "new" attributes of these children (they are not all that new if you look down through history), and it also reinforces the cultural need that many have to be or feel "special", different, apart, while at the same time celebrating those differences and not dividing too strongly from the rest of society. Identifying one as an "Indigo" allows them their individuality yet also does not remove them from society as a whole.

That said, I think the label is more or less bs. I'm a huge believer in reincarnation and much that goes with it, but I think that the Indigo thing is way overblown. A good idea blown out of proportion. (My children fit the profile pretty well but it's not something I use or study)

If you look at the profiles, they contain characteristics that are valued in adults but not so much in children. This is more or less a global attempt to begin honoring them in children more as well, which will allow these children to develop further characteristics that will allow them to complete the tasks they incarnate to perform. (There's nothing too freaky about that - I believe we're all of us here to do a certain "job" of some sort, not just these "special" children).

I have read a few sites..not hers...

I have been meaning to attend some of the local groups to hear more.

I can't decide if it has merit or it is just people looking for a positive spin on their spirited or 'troubled' kids.

My boy suits the Indigo thing to a T and I have always said he will either be the second coming or satan....or a politician.
