Let's try to look through children's eyes. Doesn't using light humor and words that they understand make these ailments far less scary? &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I can't tell you how much &amp;quot;Captain Underpants&amp;quot; catapulted my little 7 year-old into becoming an avid reader when that series came out! The very mention of &amp;quot;underpants&amp;quot; made him giggle and he was anxious to read on...&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I have read the other books from this author to the kids and they really absorb the message with a positive reaction instead of fear. Often when a child gets sick, it is fear of what they don't understand, that upsets them. I think that children have an ability to process things easier when that fear is gone.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;If I even say &amp;quot;poop&amp;quot; the kids will crack up! I love the 'series' and can't wait to get my hands on the new one!&lt;/p&gt;
