I use the "5-second and wipe it off to decontaminate rule". It works wonders from my own research.

I'd like to see THAT study

Our rule - if it's dog-hair free, it's good to go. Of course that's a rarity. Did they test the food on the floors of Ikea my kids like to eat? Just building the immunity system...

I say it depends on whose floor. I'd eat something rescued from my own kitchen floor, but I know where I've been. From someone else's floor? Not so much.

I used the SEVEN second rule at my house with the kids. However, we mopped the floors and cleaned house on a semi regular basis. I don't have pets or mud in the house. If it is sticky, I tend to toss it. But we all lived:)

Believing in the "5 second rule" is like believing in the Withdrawal Method.
