Am I the only person in the world who actually thinks how rich people spend their money IS my business? I never see this kind of defense when people jump on poor people (like Nadya Suleman, for example) for spending money in seemingly questionable ways.

I actually think all of us owe something to society. Those with more owe more.

I agree with Sheri. These guys are helping their friend's family, something more personal to them, perhaps, than Big Brothers Big Sisters.

We also don't know, in fact, if these gentlemen do or do not donate to charitable organizations. Judging them for helping out a friend, though, (no matter how wealthy we are assuming that friend to be), is just low.

I know that kind of wealth is mind-boggling, because it is to me too. But how they spend it is really none of our business. Just as it is none of my business how you and your family spend your money.

I don't understand why people do this. Sure, it would be nice if they gave it all away and all that, but they aren't. Matilda will be fine financially, but they are doing something to honor her father and his love for her. I see nothing wrong with that.

And if I disagreed with it, it really isn't any of my business anyway.

I don't think they're looking to serve society as much as to serve Heath Ledger's daughter. He didn't update his will after Matilda was born, so apparently his assets all go to his immediate family in AU. I don't know what arrangements his parents are making for their granddaughter as far as his estate is concerned, but in the meantime I figure those actors want to show their respects to Heath by setting up this trust fund for his daughter.
