How frightened that little girl must have been with no responsible adult to turn to for help, when a complete stranger came . it brings to question if this was a regular occurance

As is the case with leaving a child alone in a car, I think that if you wouldn't leave a $100 bill sitting on a stroller or in a car, why would you leave your child?

I do feel for these parents; I cannot imagine their trauma. I wish we lived in a world safe for children.

Strollers are left on the sidewalk in Denmark, too. In fact this is probably common throughout all of Scandinavia. The people in Copenhagen we were visiting last Fall thought it was weird that we found this practice dangerous. There was a story a few years ago of a Danish woman in NYC who left a stroller outside a cafe or something and got in trouble with the police over it. http://www.justmorons.com/articles/day040114.html

I visited Iceland over New Year's. The strangest thing about my stay in Reykjavik was the amont of strollers (with babies) lining the sidewalks, while the parents shopped or ate at restraunts. I was so envious that they could live in a place that safe. But having grown up in the US, I don't know if I'd ever be comfortable doing that with my own kid, even if I lived there for decades. It would be damn tempting. But I really don't think I could do it.

i feel terrible for this family.

When I heard about this I was upset that someone would take a child so small... let alone any child. But what the crap where her parents thinking leaving a child that small in a hotel room by her damn self??? DUH!!!
