I do feel for these parents; I cannot imagine their trauma. I wish we lived in a world safe for children.

In fact this is probably common throughout all of Scandinavia. The people in Copenhagen we were visiting last Fall thought it was weird that we found this practice dangerous. There was a story a few years ago of a Danish woman in NYC who left a stroller outside a cafe or something and got in trouble with the police over it. http://www.justmorons.com/articles/day040114.html

The strangest thing about my stay in Reykjavik was the amont of strollers (with babies) lining the sidewalks, while the parents shopped or ate at restraunts. I was so envious that they could live in a place that safe. But having grown up in the US, I don't know if I'd ever be comfortable doing that with my own kid, even if I lived there for decades. It would be damn tempting. But I really don't think I could do it.

i feel terrible for this family.
