All these attempts to cover up... I don't know. I just used my hair if I felt the need to hide what we were doing! I guess that's one argument for long hair!

That's kind of icky.

It's also annoying that it's something that the kid wears...which inevitably he/she will outgrow and you'll have to buy another one in a larger size. Great. More stuff.

Whereas a nursing shawl is one size fits all. Forever.

That hat would not stay on my baby's head. She takes them all off, even the ones with the elastic bands.

I'm not terribly modest, but I try to be considerate. However, I can't quite get the hang of the blanket thing. I've been breastfeeding for 10 months now, and I still feel like a bumbling fool whenever I attempt it. While the hat idea seems like a good one to a clutz such as myself, I wonder how long it would take a baby to yank it off and start waiving it like a flag.

At least with a simple blanket draped over your shoulder, people won't stare. With THIS, everyone will be trying to figure out what it is and why the heck you put it on your baby's head.

Okay, I'm one who likes to cover up while breast-feeding in public, but this is just ridiculous. Like Nancy said, it draws far more attention to the breast-feeder!!

I put big ugly hats on my baby but that's to keep her beautiful skin out of the sun. I never thought of the hat doing double-duty!

I can see this being a better alternative for those situations when you'd want to cover up but don't want to smother the baby with a blanket (all summer long, actually). But, the fact that the hat itself is so fugly, you might as well put up a big sign with an arrow that says "LOOK! THE BABY IS SUCKING ON MY BOOB!"

Um, I think you mean the word " genteel". Gentile is what Jews call non-Jews. There ARE Canadian Jews. Not all of us are Gentiles.

In the picture, it actually looks like a giant blue boob, thus accentuating what's actually going on rather than making it more discrete. It's silly.
