I'm not taking anyone to court. But these products are marketed to children who are about 18 months and over. And some 18 monthers are still putting things in their mouths, like my two youngest. When we heard about the recall, we weren't all that concerned until I read about what lead can do to children--and I took a good look at the recalled pieces and noticed that about 1/2 of them were obviously "mouthed"

And since some of these trained were manufactured AND purchased by us in 2005 (2 frigging years to be sucking on lead).

How concerned would you be if it were your kid??? My "don't-do-a-test-unless-it-is-absolutely-necessary" ped strongly recommended the test.

Oh, and the bill is still going to Thomas--it will be about $15 for all three--after insurance. In my opinion, that's the least they can do for me after the runaround I've been given by these people.

Also unless your kid has chewed and ingested all the paint from thomas and his friends you not need to worry about lead poisoning. lead makes up less than 1% of paint base, and these recalls are all volinary by the manufacturer to avoid litigation from people like you.

Your child would need to lick the side of a train for a few days before you could detect Led in the system.

if you paid the real price of the products you use everyday the middle class would exist on the poverty line. of the millioions of products produced in china each year the # of recalls is almost a non issue, we need to treat them accordingly.

Some of these recalled toys are NOT cheap. The Thomas recall----I sent back about $200 worth of toys. One train is about $15.00, a bridge costs between $20 to $80 and don't even talk to me about a boxed set--they go upwards to $600 and sometimes more.

The companies that are using China as a manufacturing site can't be saving all the money they claim, especially the costly process a recall.

BTW, the boys--all three of them--Matt plays with the boys and their trains, are getting a lead test on Thursday. The bill is going straight to the Thomas people.
