That burned real wood. And we actually had fires in it! During the long, cold, California winters (where "cold" is a relative term), every weekend Mom would pop Dobie Gray on the hi-fi and Dad would veg out to football

re: Useless Gifts: The Spinmallow

i kinda think it's quite cool, i bet my florist in poulsbo would love this.

Your comments are spot on about the Spinmallow. After inventing it I had my doubts about selling any! After 4 years of sales I couldn't have been more surprised. I think most toys are somewhat useless. They are for the most part not utilitarian. They are meant to amuse. I guess while observing kids playing with the Spinmallow I discovered that it was much more than a toasting tool. It was a toy. Most kids just toast them until they turn black (this takes a while) and ask for another 'mallow. I have seen kids toast 5 or 6 'mallows and not eat one. They get so into the play they lose track of the "eating part." I guess that I am playing some small part in fighting childhood obesity and tooth decay.... In the end, I get the absurdity of it. Basically, it's just fun to play with. By the way, we have a new one coming out in the spring. Our new RPM is a tightly held trade secret. Kind of like the "eleven herbs and spices" the Colonel uses. Thanks for letting me blab.
