Actually, Ina Mae Gaskin's claims aren't new. They were included in her book Ina May's Guide to Childbirth, and maybe even in her earlier works.

Making out during the birth!?! I'm picturing something along the lines of the female Praying Mantis ripping her mates head off. I'm glad I was at the birth, but I'm even happier we had a doula running interference. I'm betting that most men are better off sticking to the low back massages and hand holding.
