I don’t really see why it’s the researcher’s job to “help” you deal with parents who have a different parenting philosophy than you. So some Mom was going on about flashcards, was she so threatening you couldn’t bring up your opinions on freeplay? It’s not like she strapped your kid down and made her recite her times tables. Why didn’t you ask her opinion on how much playtime she though was necessary instead of just looking at her like she was an alien, maybe then you could have heard her opinion, and what she was basing it on, instead of just projecting your worst fears onto someone trying to do the best for their child.

That's horrible! I can't imagine a world without recess. Recess and naptime are two very important parts of school. Forget soccer, football, and baseball. We want Tag, kickball, and four square! It pains me to think of children growing up having never hit a tetherball. Children already have too much homework and dates drummed into their heads. What do kids remember most about school-the field trips or the sitting in class lesson plans? Make lessons more hands on and fun and we'd see more active learning.
