    Clinginess

How do other parents deal with clinginess?  My daughter is 5 months old and she does not want to be put down during the day.  Unfortunately, my work is computer-based, so I really can't hold her and type at the same time.  I feel awful listening to her howl.  Is there any way to distract her while I'm working?  She has the requisite baby toys, but she just wants to be in Mommy's arms all the time, which is sweet but inconvenient.  Any ideas?

    Re: Clinginess

You could try wearing her. I have a podegi that my baby hangs out in while I work, it works really well. They need to be held, wearing them is the best way to do that while also allowing your hands to be free. They get to learn about theri world while close to you, it is better than any toy, and I think you will really like having her close. It also helps with cerebral development.

There are slings, wraps, ergo structured carriers, mei tai type wraps...choose what you think will work best. I have a wrap, sling, ergo and podegi, I love the podegi for in the house, the ergo or out and about trips, though my fiance likes the ergo best and wears him in the house in it. I love the wrap to, but it takes some skill. My baby is a bit to squirmy for the hip hold in his sling now, I think it will be good for when he is a bit bigger. A podegi type carrier will last you for as long as you can carry her, and I use it on the front, facing in and out, and on the back so it is really diverse.

Tao Te Ching Audio Book Now Up (Free of course!)

Lao Tzu’s classic text, the Tao Te Ching is now up in the free members area. This recording weighs in at 54 minutes and 47 seconds. I wanted to get this thing recorded before we went any further with the Tao Te Ching video study group, in case there were some people caught in “analysis paralysis” or who don’t like to read much. read more at Wudang
