feedback for "Notes From A Non-Breeder: Shopgirl"

  1. What was the point of this article?

  2. As if anyone would discuss articles found in the New Yorker to this overly smug, parent-deriding, overall judgmental nobody who thinks we're all suckers and that everyone's husbands are always checking her out. Please.

  3. Ooooooh - last poster - the article must have hit a little close to home, didn't it? Do you read Cookie AND the New Yorker? You should note, however, that she's only being deriding elitist, shallow and materialistic parents like yourself (and not all parents). Please.

  4. Totally true. All of it. I worked in a children's boutique a few years ago and we ended up putting the display potty on a shelf where it couldn't be pooped in.

    Retail sucks.

  5. I thought the article was sweet and made some good points. Particularly the one about food fights in "dry-clean only". I was a sucker for all those cute, expensive baby clothes until I wised up. Now I'm all "Old Navy" and proud of it! I sold my beautiful white sofa that had to kept at all times under a blanket (except when guests came over) and bought a cheap dark brown one so that I don't stress out when my little girl does a peanut butter-mouthed face plant on it.
I hope you do have kids one day because there is truly nothing better than having your hair pulled followed by a big slobbery kiss from your "little one".

  7. I think that Savage will, one day, be a wonderful mother. She sounds very loving and real.

I have read several of her other articles and it seems as though there was probably some serious editing going on in this one. Look her up and you'll be very pleased with her other works as well as this one!

  11. Uber Baby - that could totally be it too!

  12. I love that you can appreciate the sheer desirability of some of the gorgeous, boutique items available while still seeing it for the unnecessary consumable that it is.

    Great article.
