feedback for "Parental Advisory 19"

I just want to echo how great it is to have a (very) local pediatrician. I live about 2 miles from mine. I cant tell you the number of times I have called with a sick kid and they fit me right in because I could be there in 10 minutes.
Also, we found this wonderful practice when we went on our pre-natal hospital tour. We asked a few new parents and nurses who they liked and got great recommendations. I interviewed them before the boys were born and got a great feel for how the whole practice felt about breastfeeding, immunizations, working moms, etc.

I want to stress how important it is that you are comfortable with the hospital. My wife and I chose a pediatrician whom we got great referrals for and with whom we were very comfortable. Unfortunately, she was affiliated with a hospital that simply was not set up to deal with an infant who had breathing issues. We spent 3 days in the pediatric ward of this hospital before we were finally able to a hospital with a Pediatric ICU that could give our daughter the care she needed. Thankfully she's fully recovered - but the added stress of this was horrible. So yes, meet the doctor. But also go tour the hospital. If it looks like it was last updated in 1954, find a doctor with a hospital you will be very comfortable with.
