Good article...these tips should be a given. How could you not plan ahead and know these things beforehand unless you're like a teenager or something? Yet it seems like many people just don't think it through...

I actually think it is kind of silly in some ways to financially plan to have a child. If you look at the numbers it seems impossible but there are plenty of families who have raised children even though they are considered under the poverty level. I was just considering the average cost...and how my costs have probably been below average. I think if parents start buying living with-in there means, as in being able to pay for all of their expenses, having some spending money and some money to save they should do ok when it comes to parenting.

The child care stats seems to be a little off. Especially for child care. I spend almost 13k a year for my sons preschool/daycare and even though it is private, it would still be around 10k at a public institution because preschool isn't free here.
