how about using environmentally friendly and non surfactant soap for all baby's clothes. i think that's overlooked a lot. i love charlie's soap.

Another tip is the Skin Deep web site. I'm a little surprised this wasn't mentioned in the article. It's a data base done by the Environmental Working Group that serves as an "an online safety guide for cosmetics and personal care products". You can read more about them here: http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com/about.php and here is the section that deals with products for babies: http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com/browse.php?maincat=babycare I always consult them when choosing a sun screen, tooth paste, shampoo etc. for my son. You can also see how safe products are that you already own. Everything is rated very clearly and you can dig into the details of where the rating came from if you want.
