Great article! I can't tell you how much it drives me crazy when someone tells me they don't want to save for college because that will lower their kid's chance of getting financial aid. I really would never want to take that kind of a gamble with my son's education.

Be aware that 529 plans have very limited investment options & also often have restrictive rules about the changes in investments you can make & how often.
Lots of people have been screwed this year by getting stuck in equity-heavy funds.
It's too bad that all our college-saving options have an equal weighting of pros & cons...there is no outstanding option.
