feedback for "The Babble List: Money-Saving Tips"

  1. Interesting article. Good tips for "yuppies" but not people who are really hurting. I honestly have not found farmer's markets to be cheaper than the grocery store. Better, maybe. Fun to go to definitely. Cheaper? Not so much. Also, I don't think hand made artsy stuff on Etsy is going to be cheaper than made in Malaysia from Macy's holiday sale. Cooler, yes? Cheaper? uh uh

  2. True, most stuff on Etsy is more expensve than cheapo made in Asia goods, however if you compare it to similar (wooden, organic, wooly, knitted, etc) made in USA or Canada goods that you buy in fancy-schmancy boutiques, I would say the prices are much, much cheaper. And you'll feel better buying it.

And, its not cheap plastic crap made in a sweatshop by 5 year olds!

  3. I *am* a yuppie and I already do most things on that list. Nothing earth-shattering here.

And, agreed, Etsy is not the place to save money (awesome as it is).

  4. I do a lot of this stuff now too, and some of these things are just not appealing to me. My husband and I don't go out. Having movie channels on cable is our main source of entertainment. Because I work for a small non-profit, the money I bring in is limited anyway. As a result, I'm trying to take on a second job to bring in more money. I will look for a new job, as well, because it would be better to just have one, but we do what we have to do, right?

  5. Apparently the compact fluorescent bulbs save energy but are harder to recycle. They contain mercury so be careful if you break one.
