  1. A truly wonderful piece ... Earth-shatteringly sweet …

  2. Good on Baum. for her  tell-it-like-it-is piece on new mamadom - including bad epidurals, tic tac horsetrading, and the slices of love that make it all make sense!

  3. What a wonderful article-gosh and just so so true. I have such admiration for you. I totally bribe my 4 year old with tic tacs too. Just think-it could be bribing with a Snickers bar. At least tic tacs have like 2 grams of sugar. Thanks for writing this.

  4. Ha! Too funny. I could relate to so much of this angst, and my kid is only one.

  5. This made me laugh and also feel sympathetically bad about myself and my parenting. Very nice writing and courageously truthful. Wanna hear one of mine? My (half-owl, half-rooster) three-year-old still drinks a bottle at bedtime and falls asleep with the thing in her mouth. I consider this dentally unwise practice preferable to a) her taking for freaking ever to go to sleep without the bottle, or b) the prospect of waking her up by removing the nipple from her mouth. I'm just glad the nipple is on the end of a bottle, not my breast. She can chomp on that thing all night if it gets me a little more sleep. She frequently wakes me at five a.m., hugging me and saying, "I mub you mommy!"

  6. I thought I was the only one who had a 2 year old who lived on milk and eggs. oh and plenty of bribing around these parts as well, except I call it "negotiation".
