What an insightful piece. I know the author has been there. As one who has. unfortunately, lost those
" larger than life parents"... yes that is what we fear. And perhaps, we most fear leaving our children in that same place. No matter how old you are, you suddenly feel like an orphan. So leaving our children knowing they were loved and respected by their parents is, in my estimation , the best and most lovely parting gift.

I really enjoyed this article. I love the concept of being able to get close to certain animals only when they're dead. I've never looked at it that way and it rings true. Looking forward to the next nature walk with my own kids in a new way!
