feedback for "The Internet Makes Mommy Mean"

  1. Interesting!  It's not just parenting communities in which you will find these people, either.  They are everywhere, and the only explanation I can come up with is that they are less than secure in their position (whatever that may be) and they are scared shitless that someone will find them out.   I think it's especially true of new parents, because although there have always been parents, and there are literally millions of words written on how-to, why-to, and what-for, we are all of us re-inventing the wheel here.  And none of us really have a handle on what's going on.  So we hide behind some kind of know-it-all facade and hope like hell that no one will question us.   I feel sorry for "Eleanor" and her kind; they all seem to be deeply unhappy.

  2. The Berkeley Parents' Network list is moderated, and they don't let judgemental carping out onto the list. It's such a frickin relief. I do think it's slightly hilarious that some of the usual posters are weirdly silent on this article... hmmm, hit too close to home?

  3. You need to learn to take the Internet less seriously.

  4. Good article. It's an important thought. One should remember that online wars don't enrich one's life. Even if your are totally right. ;)
