feedback for "Elective Cesarean Section"

  1. My sister elected to have a cesarean section on her first baby, which meant that she had to have one for her second baby as well. I thought she was crazy. I didn't understand why in the world she would choose to have a c-section.

    Then it was time for my birth. I ended up having to have an emergency c-section. Guess what? I STILL think she was crazy! I don't feel that the benefits of a planned ahead and faster birth outweigh the pitfalls. The WEEKS of getting better time. The ongoing pain. Ick! And then you've also got the risk of infection (which I suppose you also have with vaginal birth). Oh, and let's not forget the risk for an abruption in future pregnancies. I'm definately anti-elective.
