Popovers are super easy to make and when I say they are "kid friendly," I really mean it. My little guys have become obsessed by them. They love watching them puff up in the oven and then breaking them open when they are done to see the steam pour out of the big airy puffs. With all that holiday cooking right around the corner, this is the kind of recipe that you can easily hand over to a relative while you are busy preparing the rest of the meal.

I couldn't have said it better myself: "This is quite possibly the best, most festive side dish in the history of side dishes. Yes. Make it. It takes a bit of upper body strength to cut the pumpkin and the squash, but who cares. Consider it like an arm workout to combat all those cookies. Ready… Roasted Heirloom Pumpkin and Squash with Pomegranate seeds, fried rosemary and ricotta salata." -Gaby of What's Gaby Cooking.

  • Healthier Green Bean Casserole 12 of 12

    Recipe and Photo by Weelicious!

When I think about traditional holiday side dishes, Green Bean Casserole always comes to mind. The problem for me is that two of the main ingredients come from a can. Although your mom's green bean casserole may have been delicious, most likely it was made with a can of Cream of Mushroom soup and topped with a tin of fried onions. But don't despair, there are ways to recreate this classic the way you remember, only healthier and a lot more fresh tasting.
