5 Must-Read Magazines

Like any creative type, I gather my inspiration from lots of sources—my family, other artists, travel—the list goes on and on. But when I want to settle down with a curated collection of recipes, designs, fashion, and projects, I turn to my list of go-to magazines because I know they’ll show me the most awesome projects and products out there. Some have been around for a while, and some are new to the scene, but all are bound to inspire you, too! The best part? They’re available right now, online!

  • Scout Magazine 1 of 5

You're in for a treat with the newly launched Scout. The creation of Lisa Tilse—designer, crafter, maker, and editor of the blog the Red Thread—the debut issue is 146 pages of amazing content: tastemakers share their favorite latest and greatest products (Handmade Charlotte contributor Deborah Beau is one of them!), there are loads of super fun tutorials (like indigo-dyed beads), and pages of delicious and nutritious recipes too. (I can't wait to try the roasted cauliflower soup with parmesan fries.)

  • Gathered Magazine 2 of 5

Gathered by Mollie Makes is a must-see, particularly during this time of year when we're all engaged in full crafting mode. Some of my favorite recent projects are the mug warmers (sweaters with mittens for your coffee cup, how cute is that?), the festive ideas for table toppers (e.g., Christmas crackers), and how to crochet a necklace.

  • Babiekins Magazine 3 of 5

Babiekins, a magazine "for the trendsetting child," is full of gorgeous photography and fashionable ideas. Whether you're making clothes for kids or buying the hottest readymade trends, you'll want to check out Babekins for serious kiddie style. And, it's not too late to take advantage of these tastemakers' gift guide, which you can see on the Babekins blog.

  • Papier Mache Magazine 4 of 5

Papier Mache, "a very cute childrens magazine," is pretty much the Vogue for kids—beautiful models, playful and inventive editorials, and gorgeous fashion photography. The 80-page special issue Destination Europe shows what's trending in Europe right now.

  • La Petite Magazine 5 of 5

Inspiring kids fashion and finds—as well as Q&As with kids-clothes makers, gift guides, and more—are also found in La Petite. You'll be blown away by this beautiful publication that's worthy of permanent coffee table placement.
