We get this question all of the time from people: “Where can I go to meet someone that is looking to be in a relationship?”

They don’t want to meet a Jerk. They don’t want to meet someone that is looking for casual sex. They don’t want to meet someone that is married. They just want to meet someone that is looking to be in a serious relationship.

They (especially women) say that, while they would love to find someone in church that has the same belief system as they do, there don’t see be enough single men there.

Although I’ve found an excellent mate to spend the rest of my life with, I am no expert in this area. But since we talk about relationships daily and we attend a lot of relationship and marriage events, I have gathered a few tips that may be helpful.

So check out my list of places where you can find someone that is looking to be in a relationship. And then, give me some more places to add to this list.

You are not going to meet a person if all you do is go to work and then go home.  Go to some events, join an organization, or volunteer.  You need to break your normal routine. Photo Credit: Banalities

This is exactly how I met my husband; through a mutual friend. This option is also great because you are able to get some type of background on who this person is. Are they a player, are they nice, or are they married? Your friends can help you get to the bottom of this quickly. So ladies, if there is a single guy at your job that is not quite your type, then how about introducing him to your friends. They may like him. Photo Credit - Jaimie Duplass

OK this is a shameless plug. But seriously, one of our single writers met his wife during one of our movie screenings. Fellas - if you want to meet a nice woman that is serious about having a relationship, then attend a relationship event. I find that these events are filled with nice women that want to have a healthy relationship. Photo Credit: Kris Richards

    On-line
Millions of people are doing it; they are dating on-line.  I have never done it. But, I would say that you need to stick to all of the normal rules for staying safe when you are first dating someone new. Experts say to not rely on the person's profile too heavily because they tend to be fabricated. You should move the conversation off line as soon as possible so that you can get to the know the real person better.  Photo Credit: Andres Rodriguez

There are many organizations offering classes on relationships. Just do an internet search for classes in your area. And in those classes, you are bound to meet another person that is looking to be in a relationship. Photo Credit: Ruth Elkin

Just like meeting a jerk, you can meet a great person just about anywhere. Sometimes it boils downs to being in the right place at the right time. The question is: are you going to be ready when you meet that person. On the surface level, are you approachable. This could mean simply saying hello or smiling when you are spoken to. At a deeper level, if you are looking for someone to be in a relationship with, then make sure that you are ready. Photo Credit: Liz Ash
