Every single thing we do in life is really a quest for happiness — the job we look for, the person we marry, the friends we have, the books we read and on and on. Happiness is hands down our ultimate goal, but we “work” so hard in achieving that goal that we might end up forgetting to do the little things that truly bring joy and happiness to our here and now.
Just like any goal in life, the key is to break it down into small, actionable and easy-to-do steps that will make the task feel attainable. And even though I hate calling happiness a “task” or “work,” the reality is that more and more we have to actually make the time and develop a consciousness that makes us aware of the want to constantly create those experiences. The trick is to fill up as much of your life with those small and conscious moments and feelings of happiness are sure to overcome our every day!
I know, it sounds a bit too happy, happy, sparkles and unicorns, but what’s wrong with that? I’m a bit tired of being tired all of the time and having my day wash over in a sea of to-do lists and commitments I never should have committed to in the first place. As much as I love what I do and who I do it with, I will admit to having less and less moments of happiness that I have purposefully created. So, I came up with this list of nine things that can each be done in 15 minutes or less and that are guaranteed to make you and me feel instantly happy.

Hug someone you know and love 2 of 10
It's been proven that hugging someone you know and trust for 10 seconds or more does wonders for your wellbeing. It can also combat stress, fatigue, anxiety and even lower blood pressure. So embrace the hug!

Reach out 3 of 10
Send a friend a text, email or just pick up the phone to thank them about anything or just to let them know you're thinking of them. Even better? Write and send out a thank you note via snail mail. You'll feel happy now, and then again when they receive it in a few days. Just perfect.

Laugh out loud 4 of 10
Just laugh for no reason and the mere act of doing that will bring on more laughter that will instantly boost your mood and irradiate positive effects to your physical, mental and spiritual beings.

Write down three things you are grateful for right now 5 of 10
Consciously pausing and focusing on the good things in our lives is one of the guaranteed ways to bring abundance to your life. Plus it's just a good reminder that there's always a silver lining, no matter how grey the sky may seem that day.

Meditate for at least 15 minutes 6 of 10
If you want to find one free and simple cure-all it has to be a meditation practice. The beauty is that you can truly stop and meditate anywhere and at anytime. Stopping the day and going within us serves as a reset button and you can put that intention to reset to happiness.

Tackle your to-do list one at a time 7 of 10
I detest my to-do list. Looking at it takes me far away from a happy moment. But I just can't avoid it, and I'm sure you can't either. So now I look at my to-do list and pick that one thing I've been postponing for weeks, months, whatever and just do it. I can leave the rest behind for a bit, but that one thing makes me feel accomplished and happy.

Or anything that gets you moving and your heart pumping with joy.

Find that one favorite song that always makes you happy and that you love to dance and sing-out-loud and pump up the volume. No one's watching. Just let it go!

Praise yourself 10 of 10
Write down one thing you did today that you're proud of. This is not the same as writing down what you're grateful for, this is about you, you and you. Recognize the beauty in you and what you do and praise yourself for it.
