A Viral Video and the Man (and Woman!) Behind the MagicEva Glettner
Do you ever come across something on the internet that reminds you how good it feels to laugh? It could be something straight up ridiculous, but it just affects you in such a positive way? You want it to go viral because you become obsessed with it?
Adam Patch has tapped into our nation’s funny bone thanks to a video clip that has gone viral. Here’s the backstory in case some of you have been living on the moon:
Adam and his wife, Morgan, are drinking. Adam’s wife downs a bottle of wine and proceeds to tell a joke. Adam brilliantly records it and then….ANIMATES IT. But wait, folks. It gets so much better. You see, there is something about the joke’s delivery combined with the content (I don’t want to spoil anything, so please watch for yourselves!) that makes the whole package so appealing. Click on Adam’s fancy instagrammed toes, or the chips above you to get started.
After you watch the video, stay tuned for some Q and A’s with the director himself.
EXCLUSIVE! Q and A!
eva: Do you often get your wife drunk and record her?
adam: My wife is pretty hilarious. Period. But especially when she’s drunk. This actually wasn’t the first time I recorded her, but it was the first time she said a joke this incredible.
e: Does she like to tell jokes?
a: I wouldn’t say on a regular basis, no.
e: Were you eating Nachos?
a: Nope. No chips were harmed in the making of this joke. Not sure where she came up with it.
e: How did you decide to animate it?
a: I had a couple of slow weeks with work. I had the recording on my computer for a while and would just listen to it all the time and totally crack up with every listen. I just thought it’d be fun to bring it to life and do something creative and non client-driven.
e: Don’t you think it ended pretty dark?
a: Yeah I guess so. It’s kinda my sense of humor I guess. I always loved animations like SickAnimation.com, Spike and Mikes festival, Don Hertzfeltd’s Rejected: Rejected – Best Oscar Award Winner Movie so I’m sure that inspired it.
e: What does your wife think?
a: She was hesitant about me doing it at first, but as soon as she saw my first work in progress, she thought it was hilarious and was totally on-board. She’s a good sport about stuff like this
e: Are you going to collaborate on more material?
a: Who knows. I’m trying to figure out what’s next for Two Chips right now. Hopefully more to come.
