Have you even taken one of those personality tests? The kind psychiatrists use to drill down into the who that is YOU? Or, you know, uncover what 70′s sitcom you are?
I recently spent a Saturday morning geeking out and taking a free version of the Myers Briggs Personality Test (the real version is actually called Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® and can only be administered by certified clinicians); I have to say it was crazy interesting. In a nutshell, it measures four different aspects of your personality-so you’re either an I or an E (Introvert or Extrovert), N or S (Sensing or Intuition), T or F (Thinking or Feeling), or J or P (Judging or Perceiving).
And the results? Whoa. Yeah. More than a little bit accurate.
So I’m an ENFP. Extrovert, Intuitive, Feeling, and Perceiving. Some highlights? “Excited about possibilities for people, ENFPs enjoy helping others realize their potential.” And, “ENFPs have strong personal values and are motivated by a desire to encourage others to grow and improve themselves.” And, “ENFPs are often motivated by their beliefs in humanitarian causes and want work that is consistent with their values.” Ding ding ding!
Wow! That’s me and my dreams and my business and my life!
And then there is this, “ENFPs do not enjoy structure or too many rules.” Well, pfffft. Nobody said I was perfect.
Anyway, I shared my ENFP results on my Facebook page, and friends soon also started sharing their test results, and much hilarity ensued. Especially when this Buzzfeed article about animals who “took” the test got involved in the conversation. The Owl? A total INTP.
Check out some of the fun below.
