Sadly, no. We cannot go to Aruba today. I asked him if he could name his favorite thing that we did there (you know, for RESEARCH PURPOSES), and he sighed a heavy sigh and said, “Breakfast.”
True dat. I wish I’d taken more pictures of the food, but that was somewhat challenging because the second the plates hit the table, my kids would immediately start stuffing everything into their faceholes. The kids’ menu was available at every restaurant (and for room service), so meals were simple and drama-free. You want to eat peanut butter and jelly for five meals in a row? Knock yourself out, kid. It’s your vacation. Mama’s getting the mushroom risotto.
Breakfast, however, was an amazing all-you-can-eat buffet affair and lo, my kids proved that they can eat A LOT. I’m not a huge breakfast eater myself (particularly while wearing a BATHING SUIT, GAH), so I was happy to see that there were a lot of lighter options: I was pretty darn content with coffee and cottage cheese loaded up with superfruits like papaya and blueberries. The kids ate (no lie, every morning) plates full of fruit, yogurt, pancakes, bacon, scrambled eggs, muffins, cereal, oatmeal, sliced cheese, smoked turkey, all topped off with a special treat of chocolate milk.
It kinda put our usual at-home breakfast of Cheerios and toaster pancakes to shame. No hunger-related meltdowns for us on vacation, at least.
Okay, time to stop yapping and show y’all some pretty pictures. I have a preschooler’s crushing no-Aruba-today-related disappointment to soothe.
