Ask Me Anything.

Well, hello there.

This is my inaugural post here at Babble Voices, and I’m thrilled to be joining the team. I feel a bit like the new kid at school, so I guess I’ll start with introducing myself.  My name is Kristen, and I’m mom to four kids, ages 7, 5, 5, and 3.  I’m a marriage and family therapist by trade, though a few years ago I started blogging.  These days, I split my time between teaching psychology at a local graduate school, writing embarrassing stories about myself at Rage Against the Minivan, and editing the online blogging magazine ShePosts.  I’m married to Mark, who is also a marriage and family therapist, and because of that we never argue, have a perfect relationship, and feel completely confident in every parenting decision we make. Also, we have a pet unicorn and small cartoon birds fly in my window and help me get dressed every morning.

Okay, truth be told: I don’t have a perfect marriage, and I’m not a perfect mother.  In fact, I’d be suspicious of anyone who claimed they were.  But I do have about a decade of experience in helping people improve their relationships with their children and their spouses, and I’m hoping I can share a bit of that in this space.  Roadside Assistance will be dedicated to answering your burning questions about parenting and relationships.  Consider me your therapist-on-call.  Except that you won’t have to lie down on a couch in my office, and I’ll be answering your questions where all the internet can read them.  As such, feel free to ask your questions anonymously, and feel free to ask anything you like. I’ve been listening to the private questions and confessions of people in my private practice for over a decade and I’m rarely shocked anymore. So, let’s kick this off . . . leave your questions in the comments section, be it sex, parenting, friendships, or marriage, and I will do my best to answer.
