Be the Most Excellent You by Being the Authentic YOU

be authentic to be excellent

Sometimes you just need to remember how to be YOU.

Life gets busy. Work and driving and school and activities and meals and shopping and and AND.

Seriously, remember you? The you you’ve been  your entire life? The inner you that remembers quiet moments from your childhood, your most spiritual experiences, the times you were utterly content?

Might be time to reconnect with your core self, huh?

The best way to do that is to be the best YOU that you can be; being the authentic you is the surefire way to be the most excellent you.

    Spend your time intentionally.
Try to plan your days, and include in each day some time to do nothing. Even ten minutes to stare out a window, do some deep breathing, or ponder how cute your kitten is will do you a world of good.

    Put pen to paper.
Literally. If you're like me, you can go days without writing down anything. There is something special about writing on paper; whether doodles or a grocery list or a hand-written letter to a family member, it's an excellent exercise to connect with yourself.
  • Try something new. 3 of 8
    Try something new.
Ditch the routine and go for a new experience every week. It doesn't have to be anything crazy...walk barefoot in a fountain, take a bus ride in your home town, order something new at your favorite restaurant. Exploring your world is a great way to remember parts of your personality you may have forgotten about.
  • Do something special for yourself. 4 of 8
    Do something special for yourself.
A batch of heart-shaped cookies just for you? Why not? Give yourself a little gift...even if it's a homemade coupon book, "The coupon entitles me to one bubble bath."
  • Hang with friends. 5 of 8
    Hang with friends.
There's nothing like a new connection with another being. And sure-a pony can be the perfect buddy.
  • Unlock your talents and share them with the world. 6 of 8
Unlock your talents and share them with the world.
Be a mentor, be a coach, be a big brother or sister, be a confidant. Take what you do well and gift it to the world.
  • Make a long-distance phone call. 7 of 8
    Make a long-distance phone call.
Call Grandma or your best friend from high school or your former neighbor. Connecting with friends from the past can be one of the best ways to connect with your true self.
  • Crack a real book. 8 of 8
    Crack a real book.
We love our eReaders, but it's not the same sensory experience as reading a paper-bound book. Better yet? Get an old one from the library...that book smell is sure to remind you of your past.
